In my current full-time job, I utilize Python scripts to automate various tasks, aiming to enhance efficiency, boost productivity, and reduce the need for manual intervention. They cover a range of activities, from streamlining email notifications to facilitating seamless imports of data into databases. The primary goal is to create a reliable and error-free IT environment.

While the interactive and backend nature of these automations makes it challenging to present full demonstrations here, the description below provides a brief overview of the effectiveness and impact of the automated processes I've developed.

Process automations

One of the most prominent automations is a process that downloads exchange rates from an internet website and imports the acquired values into the database every midnight. This not only streamlines the workflow but also significantly reduces human effort and minimizes the risk of errors.

Additionally, various automated tasks are running every moment, executing actions on behalf of users. For example, generating reporting data on a regular schedule, or updating accounting periods on the first day of each month, and more.

Web dashboards

The system under my supervision consists of multiple applications. To monitor the exchange of data - transactional and master - and ensure smooth communication between applications, I've developed custom web dashboards.

These dashboards operate straightforwardly - they check data created and/or completed in one application, which are at the same time designated for another application. If a transaction is expected to be sent out from source application, but not found in the designated destination application, it's reported in a clear, readable table overview on a web browser.

Additionally, alerts are triggered via email to notify specific persons about the missing transaction, ensuring swift attention and resolution.

Initially I had different idea, which is available here - animated background resembling infinite tunnel in space, using Three.js library. Unfortunately it requires a lot of hardware resources to render everything smoothly.

Alongside developing personal websites, I've engaged in various personal web projects and drafts in the past, but none of them is currently alive.

Nonetheless, these experiences have provided me with valuable insights into web design, allowing me to transform my ideas and built this website from scratch.

Gmail downloader

Due to the frustration of Gmail's limitation in downloading multiple emails simultaneously, I developed a simple utility to enable bulk downloads from Gmail.

Program is written in Python and allows user interaction mainly thanks to the PySimpleGUI library.

Smart home

In navigating the landscape of smart living through Apple's HomeKit platform, I've expanded its possibilities with the help of a straightforward setup - utilizing a smart gateway and the Raspberry Pi with Homebridge.

By deploying this configuration, I've successfully extended the capabilities of HomeKit to incorporate a variety of non-compatible devices, facilitating a more comprehensive and unified home automation experience. Combined with native Siri integration, Apple's Home app automations (with Home Assistant planned for the future), this "project" has not only brought me immense joy as a hobby, but has also enriched my daily life.

Plants & terrarium

One of my most unusual projects with a surprising outcome is a miniature terrarium - a closed self-sustaining ecosystem that is thriving for almost 3 years with minimal human intervention.

Along with that, I'm a part-owner of numerous flourishing indoor plants (along with my future wife), constantly seeking to enhance our collection.

Analog photography

Considering myself an amateur enthusiast, I'm also occasionally shooting analog photography during my travels, using a compact film camera inherited by my late grandfather.
